Recognizing our associates for the outstanding work they do is one of JVM’s core operating principles. In February, we announced the winners of two important annual internal awards.
Kortney Balas, our director of business systems, won the James V. Madary Award. The award, named in honor of our company’s founder and the father of President and CEO Jay Madary, is given each year to the associate that best displays an outstanding work ethic, dependability, loyalty and teamwork.
In 2016, Balas served as the project manager for both the launch of the new company intranet and the shared drive reorganization project. She also implemented a new credit-card payment program for residents and deployed laptop computers to communities so that prospects can fill out applications in a paperless manner. Furthermore, Balas worked diligently with our property management software partner, RealPage, to enhance the vendor’s products so they function better for JVM associates.
“I cannot say enough good things about Kortney,” Jay Madary said. “She has a tireless work ethic and takes true ownership of projects and processes. She’s cheerful, loyal and extremely thorough. She is simply an invaluable team member who is abundantly deserving of this honor.”
JVM also announced in February that Eastland Trails in Independence, Mo., was the winner of our 2016 Community of the Year Award. Eastland Trails is owned by investors in the JVM Realty KC Apartment Fund, LLC.
Last year, Eastland Trails finished in the top spot in nine of JVM’s monthly community performance rankings. The listing incorporates all key performance indicators of property management, including online reviews, customer service, occupancy, income growth, collections, resident retention, maintenance and net operating income.
“The team at Eastland Trails did a truly outstanding job in 2016,” Madary said. “Making their efforts even more impressive is that fact that the community got a new manager midway through the year, as the previous manager transferred to another market to help us stabilize a recently acquired community. But the new manager and the existing team didn’t miss a beat, posting outstanding performances month after month.”
